These are in place for the following
areas to ensure the delivery of high quality childcare.
Health and Safety: a register is kept for children
showing each child's full details, medical information and
emergency contact numbers. All staff are fully trained in First
Aid. No child may attend when seriously ill or suffering from an
infectious illness. However as a service to the working
parent/carer, children with minor ailments may attend the
nursery.
Curriculum: The Nursery aims to facilitate the child's
experiences by having an open and structured environment that
allows free scope for creativity and expression. In this way the
children grow with confidence through activities at their own
pace. From an early stage the children are offered activities
that are stimulating and challenging. Our philosophy is to
ensure that each child and their work are accorded full respect.
Curriculum and Activities:
The curriculum is designed and delivered using themes, which
incorporates the wider world of science and the environment.
Each child works within the "Birth to Three", "Early Learning
Goals" and the "Stepping Stones" footprint appropriate to their
individual stage of development.
Curriculum Planning:
Long term planning – provides an over view of the areas/themes
to be covered during the coming year
Medium term planning – provides a mind map of a particular
area/ theme
Short term planning – illustrates the details of individual
planning sheets, completed outline activities and the learning
goal outcomes
Each area of the Early Learning Goals and "Birth to Three" is
evaluated and assessed against the suggested activity

Record keeping: We maintain the necessary records,
policies and procedures that are required for efficient and safe
management of the Nursery. Individual child's records are
shared with the parents/carers. We keep developmental progress
reports on the children and these follow them during their time
at the Nursery. This information is informative rather than
competitive and the parents/carers are invited to attend regular
meetings to discuss their child's progress.
Information to Parents/Carers:
Daily Diaries inform parents of the following:
What the child has eaten, What activities the child has engaged
with
How long the child has slept for Toileting and personal hygiene
routines
General comments on the day
Key worker: At the end of the child’s session the key worker
makes time to talk to the parents
Pre visit: Parents/carers are encouraged to visit the nursery
prior to the child being registered
Visitors: Visitors to the Nursery are welcomed at any time.
However we do ask prospective parents/carers to avoid lunch
times and where possible to give us some notice.
Children's requirements: Prior to the child joining
Learning Curve, the staff meet with the parent/carer and the
child to discuss the needs of the child. This assists the child
in "getting to know” their Childcare co-ordinator. This can be
done at home or in the nursery.
At Learning Curve each child’s day is planned according to its
age, needs and development.
Terms and Conditions: Every parent/carer registering
their child receives a copy of terms and conditions covering
various issues such as Admissions Policy, Accident Procedures,
Contact Information, Illness, and Security etc.
Equal Opportunities: In promoting equal opportunities,
Learning Curve has regard to admission and access to the
resources, activities and facilities available to children in
its care. All children and adults are treated with equal concern
and the Childcare Co-ordinators have due regard to relevant
anti-discriminatory good practice. The Childcare Co-ordinators
liase with parents/carer to ensure that all children's records
contain information that enables appropriate care to be given.
Data Protection (Data Protection Act 1998):
Confidentiality of information is maintained at Learning Curve
Day Nursery in accordance with the code of confidentiality and
the Data Protection Act.
