The
Builders Are Here!
Construction
work finally started on 30 May and our builders have
been busy from day 1 shifting earth and pouring
concrete, ready for the steel frame to be erected.
Naturally
the children are totally engrossed by the activity
outside their nursery. They are very keen to help in any
way and David brought in his very own copy of “How to
Build” in case the construction team needed any advice.

Daily
Routine
Before all the excitement of the
earth moving equipment and the big cranes and before all
the children learned to say “Digger” in twenty different
ways, we had to keep ourselves amused in different ways.
Here are some snapshots of everyday life in the nursery
before “Digger” came:

Easter Bonnet Parade
This year’s Easter Bonnet parade was
even more spectacular than last year with some
wonderfully original creations from parents and from the
staff.

Learning
& Development
Our staff have to attend at least
four Saturday morning training sessions every year, as
well as various evening meetings and the external
training they undertake. This is just one of the ways
that we can improve our performance as an organisation.
Here is Barbara Sealey from the
Wiltshire Early Years Team leading a break-out session
on planning children’s activities
This year we are undertaking the
Bristol Standards, a quality assessment programme
that will help us measure our performance, and measure
up to the standards we want to achieve in our quest to
become the best day nursery in the area.

The Great
Outdoors
With Summer here, we have been taking
every opportunity to be outside. We have slapped on the
sun cream and slipped on our hats and made the best of
the weather and our lovely play area - what better place
to make music?

The Field
This year we have made much more use
of the field. This is a great space for the children to
run around in, kick a football, fly a kite, or hold a
dog show…...

Burying
the Coins 7th July 2006
Three children, Emma, Harrison and
Samuel, were selected to each drop a coin into the
foundations. Emma, our very first baby, put in a £2 coin
on behalf of the nursery. Harrison dropped a 50p coin on
behalf of the staff and Samuel a 2p coin for the
children.

Are you
really going drop £2 in there?
