For the first
time we held an afternoon of fun family activities to
raise money for charity. It was the Saturday before
Midsummer’s Day and we used the nursery field to house a
variety of attractions and stalls. The big draws were
the tractor rides and the vintage fire-engines, which
Councillor Chris Wannell so generously brought along.
Other attractions included:
Face-Painting, Mini-Football, Dog Display, Tombola,
Barbecue Bouncy Castle, Pin the Tail on Donkey, Cakes,
Plants & Soft Toy Stalls, Indian Head Massage, Henna
Decoration, Pets Corner, Painting Competition,
Kindermusic, ABC Music
And of course
there were copious supplies of food and drink to keep
the children and the mums and dads going.
At the end of
the day we had raised £440 for Greatwood, a charity in
Marlborough which provides care and homes for retired
race-horses and HORSE POWER. This is a project
developed at Greatwood, which provides the opportunity
for children with special educational needs to learn
communication skills and emotional literacy through
interaction with rescued former racehorses.
Everyone
agreed that the afternoon had been a great success and
all had a thoroughly good time. Here are a few pictures
from the day:
