Winter in
the New Building
After the builders had
finally removed their diggers and cabins leaving nothing
but a big muddy puddle and a fine scattering of squeezed
out tea bags, and all the dust in the new building
finally cleared away to settle in a pile on top of the
reception area clock, and the new heating system was
cajoled into blowing out hot air instead of cold…...then
it was on with life just as before.

And that’s for you
Chef for making all those scrummy lunches |
|
Except
that now it is a bit better than before: Chef has lots
of space to prepare her lovely meals for our hungry
children and no longer has to balance trays on her head
while she serves up lunch—she even has more time for
cooking with the children
Barbara can disappear
into the nappy change room for hours on end but now we
can all see what she is up to (changing nappies, what
did you think?); the staff can enjoy their training
sessions and meetings in the learning and development
room and they get to sit on proper chairs; and best of
all the Threes can finally have Badgers Bank to
themselves and can do their grown-up activities without
little ones getting in the way. |

Nursery
Party
The
best thing about Winter time is all the parties. Oh, and
Christmas. So we had a party and a Christmas show.
The
children worked very hard on their parents during
December and made sure that they had nothing but the
very best costumes to wear.
These
two young ladies kindly took some time out from their
West End pantomime to lend some encouragement.
|
 |
|
|
|
|
We also had some help from some of the
sixth form at Wootton Bassett School, who provided the
music for us |

|
|
|
|
|
Christmas is all about giving and thanks to the
generosity of all our parents and staff we were able to
give three hampers to St. Bartholomew's Church.
|

|
|
|
|
|
After all that
hard work, the children thought it was time
someone entertained them, so we had a party and
very fine magician produced coins from behind
children’s ears. (Mum said: ”I wondered where I
had put the lottery money...”) |

Outdoor Life
Well goodness me, here we are in the
middle of Winter and it snows. Whatever next? What is
the climate coming to? Still, we don’t let the weather
stop us having fun outside
|

Mr Carrot-nose, can you turn your head this way
please?

Pancake Day
provided another chance to get out in the garden and
practice al fresco catering. Chef may have cooked the
pancakes but when it came to the vital stage then it was
down to the children to add the essential air cooling.
This is
achieved by running around the garden at great speed and
dropping the pancake at frequent intervals.

“yours
may be bigger, Ben, but just how high do you think you
are going to toss that then?” |
|
|
|
|
You may
have noticed the Willow House appear one cold damp day
in February. The intrepid threes braved the weather to
help construct this living structure, which is made of
willow rods planted straight into the ground. It is
already beginning to sprout leaves and the children will
be observing how it grows greener as the spring
progresses. |

Indoor
Life
Some
things are just better done indoors in the Winter. The
children have been having great fun with the painting
screen, learning to paint by looking at real faces
through the glass.

Valentine’s Day gave us an opportunity to let the
parents join us for breakfast and help develop those key
adult-child relationships. |
 |
|
|
|
|
While for some breakfast is a meal which
is probably best kept to close friends because it can
get a bit, you know, ….messy |
 |
|
|
|
|
But when we are busy with
cardboard and sellotape we don’t care who is watching us
because we have to concentrate
sooo hard!
