Spring & Summer (of sorts) Events

In April the sun shone, the birds sang and the children spent lots of time outside, with their sun cream and hats on. If it carries on like this, we thought, we will have to air condition the play area and replant the garden with cactus and palm trees. So we ordered a large gazova for the play area and waited for the sweltering days of our now tropical summer….

…. But the gazova could not be made on time because the factory was under 3 foot of water and although the hose pipe ban ended we didn’t need the hoses to fill the paddling pools because we had our own lake in the car park…..

And when it is that wet, even pulling teeth is preferable to playing outside

So when it rained on the day of the teddy bears picnic, the only thing to do was to have a picnic indoors. If the teddy bears weren’t happy, the children did not seem to mind too much.

Fortunately it stayed dry for our trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park in May and bad as the weather was during June and July we managed to get outside most days. And after all that racing around outside you need a snack to keep you going you know.

Sports Day eventually went ahead at the third attempt and as usual the children had to jump through hoops to persuade the staff to brave the elements and go outside.

Potatoes were planted which was very serious. But digging them up was a scream!

Eventually the Gazova was erected, the sun came out and we could all enjoy a barbecue lunch in the garden.

Who needs toys when you can play in a large cardboard box?

You can have a party in it

You can chill out with your mates in it

You can get a grown-up into it (just)

Or you can just be on your own in it

What to do when it is wet outside….?

………………..Get wet inside of course!

Acorn Day

We had our annual Acorn Day on 18th July and this year our special guest was The Mayor of Bassett, Mrs Audrey Wannell. She and her husband, Councillor Wannell, came to the nursery in full regalia and presented our school leavers with their certificates and prizes

Book of the Month

Each month we include a book in our activity planning and the children help make displays featuring things, places and characters in the book. This display was for Charlie and Tyler Went to the Seaside
